She'd be the death of him yet.
Gavynn ducked his head before pulling back up and sliding his hands along his hair to sluice water, ignoring where the lass stood, arms wrapped about her while she shivered in place. The burn was hip-deep on him. Cold, clean, fast moving, and difficult to hear over. Gavynn amended that. He couldn't hear much over his own heartbeat. All of it made him vulnerable. This wasn't a good idea, but he hadn't had one since meeting her. His chest and belly were tender with bruising, his muscles throbbed with the work he'd forced on them, and the woman's linen under-dress was as useless as a film of white mist would be.
She was true beauty; in form as well as face. Well-formed. Lush. Curved in all the proper places. Possessing heavy, hand-filling breasts, a narrow waist, and hips well-rounded to greet and satisfy a man. When she'd bent forward to wash her face, his groan almost made it through clenched lips. Gavynn grabbed hand-scoops of water, angrily splashing cold and wet all over. Then he bent his knees, dipping to his armpits in chill. All in an effort to divert the pressure building in his groin as blood filled the area, engorging and hardening, and angering him with how little his mind controlled anything.
Nothing worked. He couldn't keep his eyes and thoughts off her. Gavynn lifted his head to the twilit sky, close to howling his frustration. And when he brought his head back down he got a full dose of his utter stupidity. He hadn't even heard them. Gavynn sent the curses soundlessly before rising to face a solid wall of armor-clad men atop horses. They carried torches. Possessed full weaponry.
And all he claimed was the sword at his back.

Ms. Ivie, please hear us when we say that this is a wonderfully written book with two engaging main characters. Your gift for story telling is well justified in this short story. However, the injustice is this story is not a novel. The sad fact is this story ends far too soon. Please consider revising this story into a novel. Your fans want more from this couple and his brothers. We are hardpressed to leave them in such a short time. Your writing has left us wanting more from these characters.Product details

Good for a summer read. Simple story and quick read. Not a lot of info in this book, but fun. Would borrow rather than purchase.
Jackie Ivie is a truly terrific writer. I have most of her medieval books. Holds your interest from cover to cover and leaves you wanting more!
The story was short but interesting. I liked it ,although the author could have elaborated and given more scenes between the main characters. If you want to read something quick then this is the story for you.

I love Scottish stories Jackie has captured life in the highlands Well thought out love story. Laugh and cry with our caratures.
Laird Gavynn MacEuann is a fierce Highlander whose skill as a knight is unquestioned. At the moment, his only concern is freeing his brother, Iain, who is being held hostage in Lord Dilbin's castle. When he and his men finally break into the dungeon, they free not his brother, but a lass who turns out to be quite lovely, and her father owns the before mentioned castle. Her tongue is as sharp as a lance, and she refuses to obey his orders. He immediately plans to exchange his beautiful hostage for his brother. But all does not go as planned!
Lady Brielle Dillbin is spoiled, stubborn, and opinionated. So far, she has refused every suitor her father has set before her. After her last refusal, her father had imprisoned her in the dungeon with only bread and water to break her fast. She is tired of men telling her what to do, and she has no intention of obeying the Highlander who rescued her. Now, she is a hostage to a towering, handsome Highlander. He makes her heart race, and her knees weak, but she cannot let him know how he affects her.
What a great little jewel! The two main characters are strong and determined. He's determined to have her...sooner rather than later. She doesn't know quite what to do with him! How the dilemma is solved is unexpected. I really, really enjoyed this novella. A lovely little medieval romance to read over lunch. Very highly recommended!
In order to stop warring between clans, a father tricks his daughter and the leader of his enemies into marriage. This story was entertaining and fast paced.
